Three arrested for allegedly assaulting candidate in Nawalparasi West

Police have arrested three people for allegedly assaulting and mistreating a candidate seeking votes in Nawalparasi West.
The incident took place on Tuesday at Jamuniya Bazaar in ward 12 of Bardaghat Municipality, constituency number 1. A group of four individuals attacked Raju Harijan, a candidate of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) from constituency number 1, while he was campaigning.
According to the District Police Office, Nawalparasi West, those arrested are Deepin Thapa, 22, Ayush Rana Magar, 19, and Ram Mijar, all residents of ward 13 of Bardaghat Municipality.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Biradutta Panta said one suspect was arrested on Tuesday, while the remaining three were apprehended on Wednesday.
The party said the assault took place after the attackers questioned why the candidate was seeking votes in what they described as the Rastriya Swatantra Party’s area.
