Two dead in cargo truck crash in Udayapur

Two people were killed on the spot after a cargo truck met with an accident at Andheri in ward 7 of Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality along the Nepalatar–Gaighat road section of the Madan Bhandari Highway on Saturday.
According to police, the truck was travelling from Narayanghat to Gaighat carrying goods when the accident occurred. The victims were crushed by the truck and died at the scene.
Police, traffic personnel and local residents were mobilised for rescue operations at the site. A traffic police officer involved in the rescue said extracting the bodies was difficult as they were trapped under the truck.
The incident was confirmed by Kedarman Dong, deputy superintendent of police and information officer at the District Police Office, Udayapur. He said Nepal Police, traffic police and locals were continuing rescue efforts and that further details were yet to emerge.
“The bodies are in a horrific condition after being crushed by the truck, making recovery challenging,” Dong said.
The accident occurred in an area known for frequent crashes. Traffic police have designated the stretch as a black spot and regularly urge drivers to exercise caution while travelling through the area.
