A police patrol has recovered a cache of weapons and explosive materials hidden inside an abandoned animal shed in Shitganga Municipality-11, Boksé, Arghakhanchi.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Dibas Bahadur GC, said that his team found the items on Friday while inspecting the shed, which lies on the edge of a forest.
The structure, originally built to shelter cattle and left unused for several years after its owners migrated, had been leased along with surrounding farmland to the Netra Bikram Chand-led Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) for potato and vegetable cultivation.
Police said the recovered cache included two musket guns, 14 grenades, 12 detonators, plastic pipes and three launcher-like objects, one pressure-cooker bomb, one steel container bomb, four bundles of electric wire, 500 grams of gunpowder, and other explosives. The Nepali Army’s disposal team later neutralised the explosives.
“Even though cadres of the Chand-led party have been cultivating potatoes there, no one was present when the explosives were seized,” DSP GC said. “We found the items abandoned during our patrol. It is still unclear who kept them there.”
Police said further investigation is underway.
