A police officer allegedly killed a ward chairman in Dhanusha on Friday.
Bindeshwar Yadav, ward chairman of Mithila Bihari Municipality-9, was allegedly shot dead by Shambhu Yadav, a local serving in Dhanusha Police.
The police have taken Shambhu into custody. Locals said the ward chairman was shot when he was trying to mediate in a dispute.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Bahadur Bam, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Dhaunsha, said details of the incident are awaited.
He said two others were injured during the incident and are receiving treatment at the provincial hospital.
