Nepal condemns terrorist attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir
President, prime minister, and foreign minister express solidarity with India.

Nepal has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India, calling it a barbaric act.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep sorrow over the attack and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. The ministry wished for the swift recovery of those injured.
“Nepal unequivocally condemns the barbaric terrorist attack on innocent tourists,” the statement read. “We stand in steadfast solidarity with the government and people of India in this time of sorrow.”
Reiterating its long-standing stance against terrorism, Nepal reaffirmed its commitment to international efforts to combat terrorism in all forms. “Such heinous acts cannot and should not be justified on any ground,” the ministry said.
At least 26 people, including a Nepali national, were killed after suspected militants opened fire on tourists in India’s Jammu and Kashmir territory on Tuesday, Reuters said.
The attack occurred in Pahalgam, a popular destination in the scenic, mountainous region where mass tourism, especially during the summer, has resurged as Islamist militant violence eased in recent years.
President Ramchandra Paudel expressed condolences through a post on X. “My profound grief over the loss of innocent lives in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India. Such acts of violence, targeting innocent lives, are utterly reprehensible. My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their dear ones, and my prayers for the quick recovery of the injured.”
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also took to X to express condolences and reaffirm Nepal’s solidarity with India.
“Deepest condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Nepal stands firmly with India and strongly condemns any acts of terrorism. Close coordination is established to verify reports of a Nepali national among the victims and will provide all necessary assistance,” he wrote.
Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba also expressed her sorrow on X.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened by the heinous terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Kashmir. We strongly condemn this act of terrorism and the senseless violence that has claimed innocent lives,” she wrote. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time, and we wish a swift and full recovery to those who have been injured.”
She said Nepal stands in steadfast solidarity with the government and people of India in this time of sorrow.
“We are currently verifying reports regarding the possible loss of any Nepali nationals in this tragic incident. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
