Five people were killed and one was injured in a jeep accident in ward 8 of Jaimini Municipality, Baglung district, on Monday morning.

Police said the pickup jeep plunged off a cliff while en route from Kewei village to the district headquarters via Biyadthala.

Police Inspector Keshav Thapa said the deceased are 38-year-old driver Mahendra Pun, 20-year-old Rashmi Shrees, 50-year-old Nandakali Pun, 17-year-old Niraj Shrees, and 75-year-old Kul Prasad Shrees, all from Kewei in Jaimini Municipality-8.

The injured, 45-year-old Ganga Bahadur Shrees, also from the same village, is in critical condition. Locals rescued the injured and took him to Dhaulagiri Hospital for treatment.

The accident occurred approximately 40 km south of the district headquarters.
