President Ramchandra Paudel on Thursday nominated Anjan Shakya as a National Assembly member.
President Paudel nominated Shakya to the upper house on the government’s recommendation, the Office of President said in a statement.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers on April 11 had recommended Shakya for the one vacant seat in the National Assembly.
Shakya, who is close to the CPN-UML, is a former ambassador to Israel and a former National Planning Commission member.
The President also appointed Toyam Raya as Auditor General.
Raya was unanimously approved for the position by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on Tuesday. A meeting of the Constitutional Council held on March 31 had recommended Raya for the position.
