Chairperson of Ireland's upper house, Jerry Buttimer, arrived in Kathmandu on Monday on a five-day visit to Nepal. He is visiting Nepal at the invitation of National Assembly chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, leading a five-member delegation. 

Following his arrival, Buttimer met Timilsina at the latter's office in Singha Durbar and discussed various issues of mutual interests.

“During the meeting, chair Timilsina requested the visiting leader Buttimer to play a role to lift the European Union's ban on Nepali Airlines,” Timilsina's secretariat said in a note issued after the meeting.

According to the Parliament secretariat, Buttimer is scheduled to meet President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Minister for Foreign Affairs NP Saud and Education Minister Ashok Rai during his stay in Kathmandu.
