PM Dahal announces Rs50,000 relief amount to Bajhang earthquake victims

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday announced providing Rs50,000 per family to Bajhang earthquake victims for the construction of temporary shelters.
Prime Minister Dahal, who reached Bajhang on Friday to inspect the damage caused by Tuesday’s earthquake, announced a 14-point package for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction.
The prime minister said the government would soon assess the damage caused by the earthquake and then collect data on what number of buildings will require maintenance, retrofitting or reconstruction.
“Rs15,000 to Rs20,000 will be provided immediately as immediate relief amount based on family size. Relief materials such as tents, blankets, medicines, food, clothes and materials needed by people with disabilities have been managed,” he said. “In case of need for additional materials, they will be arranged in coordination with all three-tier of government.”
Prime Minister Dahal announced the government would arrange free treatment for those injured in the earthquake. Similarly, he announced providing Rs200,000 to the families of those who died in the earthquake.
Prime Minister Dahal said that damage caused by the earthquake to government offices, community buildings and schools will assessed and they will be reconstructed immediately.
One person died and 27 others were injured after earthquakes rattled various districts of the Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces on Tuesday.
