Banke

Banke District Administration Office on Tuesday clamped an indefinite curfew order in Nepalgunj over fears of communal violence.

In a notice, Chief District Officer Bipin Acharya said the curfew order has been enforced from 1pm today.

According to the Banke District Administration Office, the order was issued over a likely untoward situation due to the protest rally by a community regarding a social media post targeting the community.

The curfew order has been issued within the Rapti River Bridge in the east, the road to Indrapur on Khajura road in the west, Ranjha Chowk in the north and Jamunaha border point in the south.

No one will be allowed to hold gatherings, meetings, processions, rallies and even walk on the road during the period, the notice said. The notice stated that those violating the curfew order would be punished by the security personnel as per the law.
