Election Commission announces by-elections in Tanahun-1 and Bara-2 on April 23
The by-elections on the two vacant HoR seats following the election of the President and Vice-President, have been scheduled for the same day as Chitwan-2 by-election.Post Report
The Election Commission has announced the by-elections in Tanahun-1 and Bara-2 on April 23.
The seats had become vacant after Ram Chandra Poudel and Ram Sahay Yadav were elected President and Vice President respectively.
Poudel, a Nepali Congress candidate, was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Tanahun-1, while Yadav, a Janata Samajbadi Party lawmaker was elected to the House from Bara-2.
The top election body has already decided to hold the by-election for the vacant seat in Chitwan-2 on April 23. The constituency became vacant after Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, who was elected from the constituency last November, lost his lawmaker status as his citizenship certificate was found invalid by the Supreme Court in January.
The commission has made public the schedule of publishing the final voter list approved by the commission for the purpose of the by-election on March 30, setting up the office of the election officer on April 1, registering nominations of candidates on April 3 and publishing the final list of candidates on April 6.
