Government forms high-level panel to prepare cyber security policy
The Cabinet asks it to furnish suggestions on policy and legal structure of cyber security.

The government has formed a high-level panel to prepare a report to draft a cyber security policy.
The panel formed by the Cabinet on Monday has been asked to include suggestions related to policy, legal structure and process of the cyber security sector.
The panel has been given a month’s time to submit its report, according to Baikuntha Aryal, secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
The panel is led by Juddha Bahadur Gurung, an expert on information technology, and includes Baburam Dawadi, Saroj Lamichhane, Mona Nyachho, Prakash Rayamajhi and Bijay Gautam. The panel also includes experts from Nepal Police and Nepali Army as members while a representative of the ministry will serve as the member secretary.
Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma handed over the responsibility to the panel on Thursday amid a function at the premises of the ministry.
Sharma, who is also the government spokesperson, said an important responsibility has been awarded to the high-level experts' panel to prepare a report as part of the government’s effort to prepare a policy on cyber security amid increasing threats reported lately.
