Traffic police fix routes, parking locations for Maha Shivaratri
Vehicles will be barred from operating in and around Pashupatinath temple area.Post Report
The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has determined traffic routes and parking locations in Gaushala area keeping in mind the large number of devotees visiting the Pashupatinath temple for Maha Shivaratri.
The vehicles heading to Gaushala area will be diverted from Chabahil, Old Baneshwar, Gyaneshwar, Maitidevi, Ratopul, Setopul, Kalopul, Sifal Ground, Kutubahal, Gaurighat and Tilganga as per the traffic management plan.
Freight vehicles will be diverted from Tinkune, Jorpati, Chuchchepati, Sinamangalpul and Basundhara, said Senior Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad Bhatta, spokesperson of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.
The traffic police have designated separate routes for buses and microbuses, tempos and cargo vehicles.
Buses:
- Reach Tilganga via Ratna Park, Bhadrakali, Singha Durbar, Maitighar, New Baneshwar, Tinkune, Sinamangal and return to Ratna Park via the same route.
- Reach Sanghu through Ratna Park, Bhadrakali, Jamal, Keshar Mahal, Lazimpat, Narayan Gopal Chowk, Chabahil, Bouddha, Jorpati and return through the same route up to Jamal and then head to Ratna Park via Mahendra Shalik Tindhara Pathshala.
- Vehicles travelling on the Kapan-Ratna Park route will operate through Maharajgunj and vice versa.
Microbuses and tempos:
-Microbuses and tempos on the Sundhara-Bouddha route will be allowed to operate through Mahendra Shalik, Krishna Pauroti, Jaya Nepal, Naxal, Bhagwati Bahal, Sano Gaucharan, Siphal, Chabahil Ganeshsthan and Chabahil. The microbuses and tempos operating on the route have to return through Maharajgunj.
Freight vehicles:
- Freight vehicles heading to Maharajgunj via Jorpati, Bouddha and Chabahil should travel to Maharajgunj via Chuchchepati, Bhrikuti Chowk, Gopi Krishna Hall and Sukedhara.
- Cargo vehicles going to Bouddha or Sukedhara can travel through Koteshwar, Kalanki, and Maharajgunj and reach Sukedhara and travel to Bouddha via Gopi Krishna Hall, Kapan, Mahankal and Chuchchepati.
- Freight vehicles heading to the Pashupati area will be allowed to travel only up to Tinkune and Basundhara.
- Cargo vehicles heading to Bouddha from Koteshwar or Gatthaghar can reach Bouddha through Jadibuti, Pepsicola and Gothatar Bridge.
Parking areas:
In front of Tilganga Eye Hospital: Vehicles of pilgrims, visitors and tourists (foreigners).
Office of Pashupati Area Development Trust and Bhandarkhal: Government vehicles with permits and police vehicles only.
Sifal ground: Vehicles with permits and vehicles of local pilgrims.
Across Guhyeshwari: Vehicles of pilgrims from Gothatar, Jorpati, Mulpani, Gokarna and Bouddha.
Bankali area: Vehicles, fire engines, ambulances and drinking water tankers of associations running camps on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
