Dhanraj Gurung elected HoR member from Syangja-2

Nepali Congress vice-president Dhanraj Gurung has been elected as a House of Representatives member from Syangja-2.
As per the final results declared on Saturday evening, Gurung defeated his closest competitor Padma Kumari Aryal of the CPN-UML by a margin of 5,627 votes.
Gurung received 31,466 votes against UML’s secretary Aryal who managed to get 25,839 votes.
Tikraj Gurung of the Rastriya Swatantra Party garnered 8,113 votes.
With Gurung’s win, the Congress has secured 56 first-past-the-post seats with final results of 163 out of 165 constituencies declared.
The UML is placed second with a win in 44 constituencies.
The CPN (Maoist Centre) is placed third in the seat tally winning 17 seats as the CPN (Unified Socialist) is placed fourth with registering victory in ten constituencies.
The vote counting is underway in Bajura and Dolakha.
