Kathmandu District Court issues arrest warrant for Lamichhane
The national team skipper has been accused of rape by a 17-year-old girl.Post Report
The Kathmandu District Court issued an arrest warrant for Sandeep Lamichhane, Captain of Nepal’s National cricket, on charges of rape, according to police.
Lamichhane is currently in Trinidad & Tobago to play in the Caribbean Premier League. He was part of the national team that played ODI and T20 series against Kenya.
A minor had filed a rape case with the police against cricketer Lamichhane on Tuesday. Police had sought an arrest warrant for Lamichhane from the district court after the rape case was filed at the Gaushala Police Circle.
A police officer involved in the case confirmed issuance of the arrest warrant for Lamichhane’s arrest by the district court.
“The district court has issued an arrest warrant for Lamichhane who has been accused of raping a minor,” said the police officer on condition of anonymity given the sensitivity of the case.
The national team skipper left Nepal on August 22. According to the complaint, the incidents took place the night before and in the morning of the day he left for Kenya.
