Nepal Army Chief Sharma conferred with honorary rank of general of Indian Army

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday conferred the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army on Nepal Army Chief Prabhu Ram Sharma.
“President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the Honorary Rank of General of the Indian Army on General Prabhu Ram Sharma, Chief of the Army Staff, Nepali Army at a special Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today,” Rashtrapati Bhavan wrote on Twitter,
There is a long-standing tradition between Nepal and India to honour each other’s army chiefs with conferring the honorary rank of general.
General Sharma reached New Delhi on Tuesday on a four-day visit to India at the official invitation from his Indian counterpart General Manoj Mukund Naravane.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari conferred the honorary rank of General of Nepal Army on Indian Army Chief General Naravane in November 2020.
During his stay in Delhi, General Sharma is expected to meet with top Indian leaders. Sharma is scheduled to return home on Friday.
