An emergency meeting of the party held on Wednesday made a decision to this effect after the Kailali District Court handed down a life sentence to Resham Chaudhary, the main accused in 2015 Tikapur incident.

The meeting has concluded the government has not kept its promises such as amending the constitution as demanded by the party, releasing the persons arrested during the Madhesh and Tharuhat movement, withdrawing the cases filed against them and bearing the expenses for the treatment of the injured protestors.
At least nine people including a senior police officer and a child were killed in the Kailali violence.
Earlier this afternoon, Rajendra Mahato, a leader of the Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal, had expressed his dissatisfaction over Kailali District Court’s decision to hand down a life sentence to Chaudhary.
