Dr Govinda KC has demanded resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Dr KC, who is on fast-unto-death for the past 17 days, made such demand after Parliament endorsed the National Medical Education Bill against his demands on Friday.
Issuing a statement by organising a press conference soon after the endorsement of the bill on Friday, anti-graft crusader demanded resignation of Oli on moral grounds. “He should resign on the moral grounds for wavering from his own decision,” said KC’s aide Jivan Chhetri.
Prime Minister’s decision making ability has been affected by his health and medicines he takes, the statement read, “It is unfortunate that the country is bearing the cost of Prime Minister’s treatment.”

KC also rejected the government and ruling party\'s request to end the hunger strike and help the government in implementing the bill. KC announced that he would continue the hunger strike.
“The ruling party forcefully endorsed the bill against the agreement reached in the past with Prime Minister Oli. This clearly indicates that the government is inclined to work for the interest of medical colleges rather than Nepali citizens,” read the statement, adding, “Therefore, we have decided to continue the hunger strike and would remind the government of six other demands we have put forth along with the bill.”
This is the 16th hunger strike of the orthopaedic surgeon at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital demanding reforms in country’s medical education and health care system.
