Ten people died and two others were critically injured when a car swereved off the road and plunged nearly 40 metres down in the Bheri River at Thulibheri Municipality in Dolpa on Monday.
A female passenger is missing and feared dead, police said.
The car (Bhe 1 Cha 1610) was carrying passengers to Supani in Tripurasundari Municipality-3 from Dunai when the accident occurred near Kalagauda area.
Police identifeid the dead as Hemraj Hamal, Narsingh Kathayat, Sher Bahadur Thapa, Laxmi Rokaya, Asmita Rokaya, Yam Rokaya, Kumar Rokaya, Bodh Dharala, Manisha Dharala and Bhadra Rokaya.
A female passenger, whom police identified as Amina Budha, is missing. Police said they recovered Amina's purse and mobile phone from the accident site.
Driver Dinesh Bahadur Bohara and Nanda Bahadur Thapa, the ward chairman of Tripurasundari-2, were injured in the crash. They were rescued and taken to Dolpa District Hospital for treatment.
Police said the cause of the accident was being investigated.
