According to police, Krishna Budhamagar and Dan BahadurRokamagar of Kalika in Naumule Rural Municipality-4, Dailekh reached Mahendranagar in semi-conscious stateon Monday. Krishna and Dan Bahadur, who are yet to come to full consciousness, said that unidentified robbers looted IRs 55,000, mobile set and their bags from them on Friday.
“We were waiting for a bus to go to Banabasa from Chandigarh Bus Park. A group of four looters who were Nepalis thrashed us and looted our belongings,” said Krishna, adding that they were unconscious after looters forcefully made them sniff intoxicating substance.
“After we regained consciousness, there’s nothing left with us,” said Dan Bahadur. “Chandigarh Police helped us to purchase tickets up to Haridwar. In Haridwar, some Nepalis helped us to reach to Banabasa.”
Both of them bemoaned that they had nothing to return to their home. In Mahendranagar, they were found requesting police personnel and locals to help them. The victims said they are left in the lurch as they do not have money to reach their home. The victims had gone to Simla in India two months ago for employment.
“Around 4,000 to 5,000 people are returning to their homes for upcoming festivals on a daily basis,” said PadamBahadurBudhamagar, Sub Inspector of the Area Police Office in Gaddachowki, adding that looting incidents are being reported on a daily basis. “Some transport operators are also charging more transport fares to the passengers. We will immediately take action against them if such incidents are reported here,” said SI Budhamagar.
