Laxman Lal Karna was elected the president of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee and Nira Devi Jairu has been elected the president of the Parliamentary Committee on Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of State's Directive Principles, Polices and Responsibilities. They were elected unopposed. The two committees are joint committees of the House of Representatives and National Assembly.
All parliamentary committees except for the Committee on Impeachment have been formed. The committee will be formed whenever it is required. The leadership of the thematic committees—10 under House of Representatives and 4 under National Assembly—have already been picked. Of the 14 thematic committees under the upper house and lower house including two joint committees, eight committees are led by female leaders.
Deputy Leader of CPN Parliamentary Party Subash Chandra Nembang said the parliament has got its full shape. “Mini-parliament is the place for reflection of parliament. The election of leadership in all the committees will make the functioning of parliament effective,” said Nembang. He added the committees’ role will be crucial in making the government transparent and accountable.
Likewise, National Assembly lawmaker Radhe Shyam Adhikari said the election of leadership has given the parliament full shape.
The monitoring committee will closely examine whether all 308 articles of the constitution has been implemented.
