Three children died after a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall buried a house at Baphukhola in Bagchaur Municipality-12 of Salyan district.

Police said that two daughters and a son of Balaram Dangi died when the landside buried his house on Sunday night. The incident occurred when the children were playing outside their house at around 7 pm yesterday.

The deceased have been identified as eight-year-old Lalita Dangi, four-year-old Menuka Dangi and six-year-old Lalit Dangi.

Balaram and his wife had gone to a cowshed when the tragedy occurred.

DSP Birendra Bahadur Shahi said that the rescue operation could not be carried out last night due to risk of landslide.

A police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Tharmore, retrieved the bodies from the debris this morning.

A few days ago, five members of a family had lost their lives after a landslide buried a house at Setogurans in Bagchaur Municipality-4.
