Hom Narayan Shrestha elected NARMIN Chairman
Hom Narayan Shrestha has been unanimously elected as chairman of National Association of Rural Municipality (NARMIN).Hom Narayan Shrestha has been unanimously elected as chairman of National Association of Rural Municipality (NARMIN).
The General Convention (GC) of the Association elected a 37-member working committee led by Shrestha. Menuka Kafle has been elected as vice chairperson of NARMIN, Devi Burlakoti elected Secretary and Dil Maya Budhamagar has been elected as treasurer.
The working committee seats have been shared among the political parties. CPN-UML has taken fifteen posts including chair and vice chairperson, Nepali Congress has taken 12 seats including General Secretary and Secretary, CPN (Maoist Centre) has taken six seats including treasurer, Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum has taken 2 seats, Rastriya Janata party and other party have shared one seat each.
Along with the election of new leadership, the general convention made public amendment of statute, association’s political view and declaration. The National Association of Village Development Committees was made the NARMIN with the adoption of federal set-up.
Chairman-elect Shrestha demanded that the local level should be granted the status of local government. He complained that the local government has been discriminated against in many respects from staff management to budget allocation. The declaration has also demanded red-passport to chief and deputy chief of rural municipality. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the convention on Saturday.
