Normal life in central Tarai district has been affected due to a spell of cold wave in the region. The plummet in temperatures, cold wave and thick fog have forced the people to stay indoors.
The temperature that hovered between 10 to 13 degree celsius on Sunday plunged to 8 degree celsius on Monday morning. Life has been badly affected due to the cold westerly winds.
Number of patients suffering from pneumonia, asthma, and cold diarrhoea has started growing at the hospital. The cold wave has also affected livestock and winter crop.
A meeting of Natural Disaster Rescue Committee, Mahottarai, held at the district administration decided to make collective effort for the support of cold affected people. Chief District Officer Baburam Shrestha said an agreement has been reached to identify the cold affect people and district firewood and warm clothes.
According to Mahottaria District Health Chief Rajiv Jha, respiratory problems have increased in children and elderly people. Poor people have been bearing the brunt of the cold.
