Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Sanjaya Kumar Gautam elected in Bardiya-1. He defeated CPN-UML heavyweight Bam Dev Gautam by a slim margin of 758 votes.

NC’s Sanjaya secured 44,834, while Bam Dev Gautam secured 44076 votes. In the constituency, CPN-ML’s Nara Bahadur Bohara got 2372 votes.
