Counting of votes in Chaurpati Rural Municipality and Sanfebagar Municipality in Achham has been postponed indefinitely after the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Centre) demanded scrapping of the election, accusing CPN-UML supporters of capturing booths at Baijanath Secondary School in Chaurpati-4 and Bhageshor in Sanfebagar-6.
The NC has raised concerns over the “booth capture” at Chaurpati and Ward-7 in Jayaprithvi Municipality of Bajhang by UML cadres. They have appealed to the Election Commission for re-polling.
In a statement, the NC on Thursday accused the UML supporters of assaulting its cadres, candidates and voters. The ruling party has charged the opposition party with violating the right of citizens to vote freely. (PR)
