A rhino that was translocated to Bardiya National Park (BNP) from Chitwan last year was found dead on Wednesday.
Assistant Conservation Officer Ashok Kumar Bhandari said the rhino was ailing since long. The preliminary investigation shows that the rhino died due to problems in its lungs and liver.
According to the BNP administration, the horn and other body parts of the rhino were found intact on the site. The vital organs of the dead rhino will be sent to Chitwan for further study.
The pachyderm was found dead at Dhanushe between Shivapur and Sodhkhola in Babai.
A tiger had mauled a rhino calf in the same area one and half months ago.
