Earlier, the SLMM cadres came under attack from Indians in Birgunj-Raxaul border point on Wednesday night.
The clash took place after the Indians who were involved in yesterday's encouter showed up at the Miteri Bridge. The locals from Ahirawa tol in Raxaul attacked the agitating Morcha cadres with batons.
Morcha leaders said that the clash took place for nearly half-an-hour. Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party leader Rekha Sah, Shatrughan Yadav, Chandan Mishra and Madan Yadav received injuries during the clash. Sah’s hand has been broken during the attack and is receiving medical treatment at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital along with others.
At least five cadres were injured when they were attacked by a group of Indian citizens at 8:30 last night. They are being treated at Narayani sub-Regional Hospital.
The dispute rose after Raxaul residents demanded that Indian number-plated trucks stuck at the Birgunj border point be allowed to enter India.
One Indian number-plated truck entered into Raxaul yesterday night while the cadres were chased away from their sit-in spot at the border point.
Agitating cadres have been staging sit-in on the border halting the movement of cargo vehicles for over two months.
