India should end its blockade: Oli

Speaking at the UML’s national cadres gathering in Kathmandu on Tuesday, leader Oli said that it would not be appropriate for a country considered as the largest democracy in the world to impose trade blockade to a small land-locked country like Nepal. He said India, which is aspiring to become a world power, should ease the supply of essentials to Nepal at the earliest. “It is the aspirations of the Nepali people,” he said.
The gathering was organised with the objective to highlight the importance of positive aspects of the new constitution and the future roadmap.
“The new constitution of Nepal drafted for the first time by the elected representatives of the people is progressive, democratic and inclusive,” said the UML chairman.
He called on the agitating Madhesi and Tharu groups to come to the negotiating table to seek solution to their issues. He reiterated that the constitution is an amendable document and genuine concerns of the disgruntled parties would be addressed.
But he ruled out the possibility of rewriting the constitution as demanded by some Madhesi leaders, saying that the Constituent Assembly was already dissolved.
Hinting at the statement given by Vice President Paramananda Jha, Oli warned the apolitical institution not to engage in politics.
