The Nepal Army (NA) personnel carried out a couple of controlled explosions at the dam on Wednesday in a bid to drain the lake. The water level in the lake has decreased by a foot after the blasts although the NA team had expected more water to recede from the dammed water overnight.
The Kaligandaki river has been blocked at Baisari in Bhagawati VDC by a massive landslide that cascaded down Mahavir in Ramche-9 along the Beni-Jomsom road stretch on Sunday morning. The site is about 8km north of Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi. The landslide dammed lake has displaced 27 households.
