DFO officials said Ain Bahadur Shahi, Surya Narayan Shahi, Dil Bahadur Shahi and Bir Bahadur Shahi were appointed as forest guards for the next five months. District Forest Officer Shambhu Prasad Chaurasiya said each of them will receive a monthly salary of Rs 2,500.

He said they have assigned to help douse wildfire (if any) and initiate campaign against deforestation in Kalyan, Ratu, Jarbuta and Gadi VDCs in the district.

Chaurasiya said their contract would be extended on the basis of their performance.

Chaurasiya said they also plan to extend the provision in Dailekh, Salyan, Jajarkot and Dang districts in coordination with the authorities concerned. The Rautes expressed their commitment to control wildfires (if any) and stop deforestation.
