A woman of Gumdel VDC-4 in the district has reportedly been assaulted by her husband and in-laws.

Victim Kandu Sherpa said that her husband Kanchha Sherpa and father-in-law Tendi Sherpa attacked her with a khukuri and baton on Friday. Sherpa, who has sustained wounds on her body, is being treated in Kathmandu-based Nepal Medical College.

Kanchha and Tendi beat Kandu over dowry, added Kandu’s brother Anggirme Sherpa. According to him, they asked Kanchha to stop thrashing Kandu, but to no avail. He believed Kandu never had peace of mind since her marriage as her in-laws tortured her time and again. Kandu, who currently runs a dairy shop, was married to Kanchha twelve years ago and they have two children. Relatives of Kandu lodged a complaint against Kanchha at the District Police Office. Police have initiated investigation into the case.
