Arju brand long-grain rice hits store shelves
The company buys rice exclusively from Nepali farmers to curb the growing import of rice.Post Report
Arju Rice has launched Arju long grain and Arju jeera masino rice in the market.
The price of long grain and jeera masino costs Rs130 per kg and Rs110 per kg, respectively.
Both of these rice are available in a 20 kg pack. The company said that it’s the first long grain rice 6.9mm in size sold commercially.
Though it is 0.5 mm shorter than the Indian long grain rice available in the market, the taste and aroma are unique, the company said.
The company said that the Nepali long grain is Rs40 cheaper than the Indian long grain rice. Long-grain rice of various Indian brands is available at Rs160 to Rs170 per kg in the domestic market.
According to the company, it has been collecting Ram Dhan, a home-grown improved variety of paddy, from the farmers. The collected paddy is milled in its fully-automated rice mill in Morang.
Till now, according to Arju Rice, they have made a payment of more than Rs100 million to farmers in the last two harvest seasons.
The company stated that it would buy rice exclusively from Nepali farmers to curb the growing import of rice. The company aims to launch Basmati rice of its brand in the next season. (PR)
