Mother, daughter die in Salyan firePolice have termed the incident suspicious and are further investigating.
A woman and her infant daughter died after a fire broke out at a house in ward 2 of Triveni Rural Municipality of Salyan.
According to police, 32-year-old Rewati Thapa and her nine-month-old daughter died on the spot after the fire engulfed the house of local Suk Bahadur Thapa.
Police assumed the fire broke out on Friday night. Locals informed the police after the woman and her daughter were found dead on Saturday morning.
However, neighbours said they didn’t see smoke billowing from the house on Friday night.
Police have termed the incident suspicious as the fire has only engulfed the room they were sleeping in.
Police Inspector Gopal Shrestha, who is also the spokesperson for Salyan District Police Office, said they are further investigating the case.
A police team has reached the village located around 25 kilometres from Khalanga, the district headquarters, and bodies have been brought to the headquarters for a post-mortem on Saturday afternoon.
According to locals, the woman’s husband is in India for employment.
