Eight people were injured in a jeep accident that occurred in Kapurkot Rural Municipality of Salyan district on Sunday.

District Police Office, Salyan informed that the jeep en route to Simpani of Rolpa from Tulsipur in Dang district, carrying 15 people, fell some 50 metre down the road at Khorbare in the rural municipality at around 2 pm today.

Deputy Superintendent Damodar KC of the District Police Office informed that three of the injured are in critical condition.

According to the police, the jeep could not move forward on an uphill dirt road and reversed back causing the accident.

Police informed that all the injured have been taken to Dang-based Zonal Hospital for treatment.

Inspector Santosh Khanal, spokesperson at the district police office, informed that the driver of the jeep has been detained following the incident.

Khanal informed that a preliminary investigation has shown that the jeep was carrying passengers beyond the capacity and was not in a good conduction which resulted in the accident.
