Eight dead, one injured in Salyan jeep accident

Eight people died in a jeep accident in Salyan on Wednesday.
According to police, the jeep was carrying a wedding party and was on its way to Jalbang from Dhakeri in Banke. The vehicle veered off the road and fell some 200 metres down a cliffside near Mulpani of Kapurkot Rural Municipality at around 2am.
Deputy Superintendent Dipendra KC of Salyan District Police Office informed that seven men and one woman, all residents of Jalbang, were among those who died in the accident.
Police have ascertained the identities of all the passengers on board the jeep during the time of the accident.
One survivor, Tilak Oli, 35, of Jalbang, who sustained severe injuries is currently receiving treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Dang, said police.
District Police Office, Salyan Information Officer Inspector Santosh Khanal informed that the bodies of the deceased are being brought to Salyan District Hospital for postmortem.
