The Division Forest Office in Gorkha has rescued an injured leopard from the Dhikidanda Community Forest in ward 8 of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality.
Division forest officer Madan Mohan Shandilya said a male cub, around five months old, was rescued. He said two leopards were spotted near the forest edge on Friday. One was found dead with internal injuries, while the other was rescued in an injured state.
The rescued cub is undergoing treatment. Shandilya said officials suspect it may have fallen ill after consuming poison, but the cause is under investigation. He said the cub is recovering, and officials are discussing whether to release it back into its habitat or send it to a rescue centre.
The dead leopard will be managed after a post-mortem, according to the office.
