Traffic has been halted for road repairs on the East-West Highway in Daunne, Nawalparasi East, since Tuesday afternoon.

The highway caved in in Daunne on Monday, leading to one-way traffic operations.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Bahadur Paudel of District Police Office, Nawalparasi East, the road will remain closed for repairs until 2pm on Tuesday, and non-essential vehicles will be banned from operating during this period.

Drivers are advised to use alternative routes and avoid travelling along the highway unless there is an emergency, he said.

The same area experienced a road collapse last year.

The road collapse has caused long traffic jams for vehicles. As a result, vehicles heading east from the west are currently stopped at Dumkibas, while those travelling west from the east are halted near Bardaghat.
