Nepal defeat Bangladesh 2-1 to clinch Three Nations Cup

Ending their eight match goalless streak, Nepal defeated Bangladesh 2-1 to win the Three Nations Cup on Monday.
Goals from Sanjog Rai and Bishal Rai in the first-half sealed the deal for Nepal against their South Asian rivals.
Bangladesh pulled one back through a Mahburur Rahman header in the late second half, but the hosts held their nerve at the end.
Nepal and Bangladesh played the final after a goalless match between the two sides on Saturday ensured that they reached the final at the cost of the Under-23 Kyrgyzstan team.
Nepal had last scored against Chinese Taipei in September 2019 during an away match of the World Cup and Asian Cup joint qualifiers.
This is the second major victory for the Nepali national football team at home in 37 years. Nepal’s first major trophy at home came in the 1984 finals during the inaugural edition of the South Asian Games.
This is the fifth international trophy won by the Nepali national football team. Nepal’s last international title dates back to 2016 when they lifted the AFC Solidarity Cup in Malaysia defeating Macau in the final.
