Nepal go down to Uzbekistan
Nepal can progress to the final if they beat Tajikistan in their last group match on Tuesday.Sports Bureau
Nepal went down 2-0 against Uzbekistan in the second match of the Nadezhda Cup women football tournament at the Central Stadium in Karakol, Kyrgyzstan, on Monday.
Nepal, who had defeated hosts Kyrgyzstan 8-2 in their opening match on Sunday, conceded one goal each either side of the break. Karachik Ludmila broke the deadlock for the tournament favourites Uzbekistan in the 34th minute before Sapina Rushanta added another goal five minutes into the second half. Uzbekistan had hammered Tajikistan 12-0 in their opening match on Sunday.
Nepal could progress to the final if they beat Tajikistan in their last group match on Tuesday. The four-team tournament offers the group winners and runners-up places into the final. The bottom two teams will play in the third-place playoff on Thursday.
