Speaking at a press conference on the eve of the tournament opener, CAN’s treasurer Padam Khadka informed that the prize money had been increased based on the rise in NPL’s revenue.
“This season, we expect to earn Rs200 million from sponsorships and above Rs700 million from ticketing and broadcasting. Throughout the one month of the tournament, we expect that NPL’s gross revenue Rs1.5 billion,” said Khadka. “As a result, the prize money has also been increased.”
Previously, the NPL winner got Rs10 million in the first two seasons.
Similarly, the second, third and fourth-placed teams will get Rs8 million, Rs4 million and Rs3 million, respectively.
“The decision has been made by the NPL’s governing council with the permission of CAN president Chatur Bahadur Chand,” Khadka added.
