Floodlight towers erected at TU cricket ground
Six high-mast poles installed ahead of Nepal Premier League.
Post Report
All six floodlight towers have been erected at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The construction company installed two poles on Sunday, completing the setup of all six towers.
According to project chief Chakravarti Kanth, the ground now has six high-mast towers—four measuring 45 metres and two 60 metres tall—each weighing around 30 tonnes. Lights have already been partially installed on poles number 1, 4, 5 and 6, while installation work on the remaining two will begin soon.
Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising, who also heads the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Urban Development, had inspected the under-construction international-level ground earlier on October 9.
During the visit, both contractors had pledged to complete the parapet and floodlight installation before the start of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). The parapet contractor has already finished the work. The NPL is scheduled to begin on November 17.
The government has also endorsed a master plan and designated the stadium expansion as a national priority project. The Cabinet meeting on October 16 approved the Ministry of Urban Development’s proposal to allocate around Rs10 billion for the second phase of construction.
