Nepali national cricket team skipper Rohit Paudel was appointed brand ambassador by Gen Next Consulting Group on Monday, a day before the national cricket team leaves for the South Africa tour to prepare for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
Gen Next founder and chief executive Mohammed Aslam and Paudel inked the deal which will be effective from June 1 and valid for a one-year period.
As the brand ambassador, Paudel will promote the Consulting Group through his social media platforms. The national cricket captain will also take part in education fairs participated by the Group.
Paudel said that he was excited to ink such a deal ahead of the World Cup Qualifier and Asia Cup. “Cricket players are financially in a poor condition. Apart from monthly salary, the cricketers get cash incentives only when they win a trophy. It is really challenging to win a trophy in the higher level of cricket,” said Paudel. “Such kind of endorsement will motivate players. I hope this deal will also open the door for other cricketers to get commercial endorsement.”
Paudel has scored 1,326 One Day International (ODI) runs in 46 games after his ODI debut against the Netherlands in Amsterdam in 2018. He was appointed the national captain in September 2022. Nepal secured a direct berth for World Cup Qualifiers after it won 11 among the last 12 matches of the ICC World Cup League 2.
