Book festival featuring women writers
The Feminist Memory Project Book Mela featured books by over 100 female writers.Post Report
Photo.circle and Nepal Picture Library hosted The Feminist Memory Project Book Mela at the Nepal Art Council in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, on Saturday. Various publishers and institutions working on women’s issues participated in the Mela (fair), which featured books by over a hundred female writers. “While researching for the Feminist Memory Project we connected with many women writers. This mela is a result of the meetings we had with them,” said Diwas Raja KC, head of research at Nepal Picture Library.
As March is Women’s History Month, the organisers wanted to celebrate the vitality of women’s contributions to literature.
“By bringing together all these writers we intend to close the gap that exists between readers and female writers by encouraging dialogue and honouring the diverse range of works written by women,” said KC.
