A long-held tradition of people heading outside the Capital city to their respective villages kicked off with the beginning of Dashain festival, the most widely celebrated Hindu festival, from Wednesday.

People leave the Capital Valley every year during Dashain to reunite with their family and friends.

The Dashain travel rush is the biggest annual migration in Nepal.

As many as 2.5 million people are expected to leave the valley for the festival every year.
