Maoist party gives more time to PM Oli to implement deal

The party will explore other possibility if the prime minister fails to act in spirit of the nine-point agreement and a separate three-point signed between the Maoist party and the CPN-UML, said Maoist Centre leaders.
A meeting of Maoist Center held at the residence of party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday agreed to seek Oli’s renewed commitment on the agreements.
Maoist Center Spokesperson Pampha Bhusal said the party would once again demand the governing party to implement the past understanding reached between the leadership of the two parties.
“Our party would explore all alternatives of the national consensus if the prime minister refuses to abide by the agreement,” said Bhusal.
Meanwhile, the Maoist Centre is also planning to replace the party ministers representing in the current Cabinet, and add some state ministers.
Leaders said the party is planning to replace some high-profile ministers, including Home Minister Shakti Basnet.
Maoist Centre leaders said the party leadership is considering sticking to the left alliance unless the party finds viable alternative to the incumbent government.
The Maoist leaders, who are in favour of government change, said that the party would intensify discussion with the Nepali Congress and UML on the agenda of national unity government in the coming weeks.
