Hill districts across the country are experiencing cloudy weather conditions with the formation of cumulonimbus (CB) clouds in patches that bring heavy rain, hail, snow, lightning and
thunderstorm, which is common during pre-monsoon period between Marchand April, Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) said.
“The local weather system remained disturbed with rains in West Nepal, including Pokhara. It is moving towards central Nepal,” said Barun Paudel, a senior meteorologist at the MFD.“During the evenings, there are chances of brief to moderate rains in Kathmandu until later this week,” he added.
Usually, CB clouds form in every couple of days and bring sudden change in the local weather system, according to meteorologists. On Tuesday, a massive dust storm hit the Valley, killing one person and causing physical damage.
“Though the chance of another dust storm like that is very unlikely, strong winds will be expected in the coming days,” Paudel said.
The dust storm on Tuesday blew away a haze that shrouded Kathmandu Valley for more than a week.“Either strong wind or rains are needed to clear the thick smoky haze which contains pollutants,” Paudel said.
