The taskforce of Constituent Assembly drafting committee has worked out a timetable to chart out its work which will be finalised by the committee’s meeting scheduled for Friday.
According to the tentative framework, the committee will hold dialogue with experts between May 1 to May 3. Similarly, the committee is to study the related reports between May 15 to May 21. As for the experts, the committee is also preparing a roster, some of the likely names include senior advocates Purnaman Shakya and Surendra Mahato, and former attorney generals Raghav Lal Baidya, Yuvraj Sangraula and Mukti Pradhan. The other possible nominees include advocate Chandeshwor Shrestha and former chief secretary Tirtha Man Shakya.
The taskforce has also finalised work procedure wherein any decision to be taken through voting would require support of 51 percent members. Likewise, the committee will ask media to leave the meeting hall as and when “secret decision” is to take place. “The committee secretary will communicate necessary information regarding its proceedings,” said UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Ram Narayan Bidari who is also a member of the taskforce.
The drafting is going to be headed by Nepali Congress lawmaker Krishna Prasad Sitaula as he is the only nominee for the post. The committee has important task of taking into drafting issues forwarded by the full house of CA. The constitutional record committee is to sort out contentious issues as well as those agreed. The latter will be sent to drafting committee and the former to political dialogue committee, which after forging consensus will forwarded it to the drafting committee via the full house.
