Nepal and India have agreed to reactivate and revitalise all bilateral mechanisms, including the moribund Nepal-India Joint Commission formed to explore and promote mutually beneficial cooperation on various areas.
Minister for Foreign and Home Affairs Madhav Prasad Ghimire and Indian Minister of External Affairs Salman Khurshid have agreed to hold the meeting of the Joint Commission at the earliest and on a regular basis.
The meeting of the joint commission at the foreign minister level is an apex body to look into the bilateral relations and projects that was formed during the Nepal visit of the then Indian Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar in February 1991.
The commission meeting has not taken place since its first that was held in New Delhi.
The ministerial level meeting in New Delhi also reviewed the overall state of bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries.
