Nepal's Saraswoti Bhattarai has set a new national record in 1500 meter race held under the ongoing Rio Olympics 2016 in Brazil.
In the competition held at Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, Bhattarai replaced a 26 years' old national record. In the first heat of the race, Bhattarai clinched 13th spot and completed the distance in 4 minutes and 33.94 seconds setting a new national record for Nepal.
Raj Kumari Pandey held the previous record by completing the distance at the Asian Games in 1990 in 4 minutes and 34.45 seconds.
However, Bhattarai has crashed out of the competition despite setting a new national record. RSS
